Kick Assery in Stray

Stray
(Shifters #1)

June 1st 2007

There are only eight breeding female werecats left . . .

And I'm one of them.
I look like an all-American grad student. But I am a werecat, a shape-shifter, and I live in two worlds.
Despite reservations from my family and my Pride, I escaped the pressure to continue my species and carved out a normal life for myself. Until the night a Stray attacked.
I'd been warned about Strays -- werecats without a Pride, constantly on the lookout for someone like me: attractive, female, and fertile. I fought him off, but then learned two of my fellow tabbies had disappeared.
This brush with danger was all my Pride needed to summon me back . . . for my own protection. Yeah, right. But I'm no meek kitty. I'll take on whatever -- and whoever -- I have to in order to find my friends. Watch out, Strays -- 'cause I got claws, and I'm not afraid to use them . . .
I have read Rachel Vincent's YA series The Soul Screamers and I am a huge fan. I fell in love with her writing then. I was sure I would love her Adult series as well. So, I picked up her Shifters series.
The first book Stray was a good start into the shape-shifter world of werecats.
When I started reading I knew I would be liking the book and I did alot. I did feel just like I did while reading her YA series that Rachel gets better with the plot as the series progresses. The plot during the indivdual books lacks depth. Read The Soul Screamers and you will understand what I am trying to say. I don't get it why are the fictional guys just so hot. Faythe's brother's- all of them were shown as really good-looking. And then there were Marc and Jace. God. I adored Faythe and her fiestiness. Her kick-assery was just tantalizingly good.  :D I liked how the male cats were called Toms and the females were called Tabbies. All in all, a goood read.
